What about continuity of care? Most of the time when people use retail clinics, they make an appointment for a certain day and time, not who will be their healthcare provider.

I agree with the concern for lack on continuity of care.
Another problem is that children not actually seeing pediatricians at any of their office visits.
While NPs and PAs offer a broad range of skills and expertise, they are not as carefully trained as pediatricians to assess various pediatric issues such as developmental stage or early symptoms of a more serious problem.

I think the advantage of a retail clinic is its availability. At least children have access to a healthcare provider.
How many of the patients would be taken to actual doctor's office?

Probably not many children would be taken to a doctor's office, it depends on the characteristics of the patient population.
Regarding not having continuity of care: if a patient's information is available electronically, then a patient's medical history is available to all healthcare providers taking care of them.

I think retail clinics are viable options for adult patients especially if a person is dealing with an acute problem such as a sinus infection.
