I know several people who prefer to see a Nurse Practioner because NP's have a more available schedule and can spend more office time with them.

In addition, certain communities have a limited budget and hiring a few Nurse Practioners and/or Physician Assistants can be a cost effective way to address some of the community's health care needs.

I wonder if part of the burnout and disatisfaction is the result of the long and grueling training it takes to become a physician.

I am finishing my first year of medical school and I am already exhausted!

I thought it was time to bring this topic back up.

The Canadian Medical Association just announced the results of its survey of Physicians (CMA press release). The found that 46% of physician respondents were in "advanced stages of burnout".

46%!!!!!

Holey Moley - who's taking care of Canadian patients?!?
