This thread discusses the Content article: Negative grief emotions decline about six-months after the loss of a loved one

At first blush this report seems totally obvious. OK, so after 6 months grief begins to subside. When this story first broke it got a lot of "duhs" from folks who saw.

On the other hand, this does give a specific time point after which treatment for depression should be begun. No matter how obvious the initial finding, it's actually quite helpful in deciding on treatment plans.

What have psychiatrists been using as milestones of grief in determining treatment plans?
