This thread discusses the Content article: HPV infection common among females in US

That's definitely a surprisingly - and frighteningly - high infection rate. This bolsters the vaccination recommendations despite objections of parents who are freaked out by vaccinating their 11 and 12 year olds for an STD.

Is there any reason boys can't (or shouldn't) be vaccinated as well? It seems that if you want to stop the pandemic you want to vaccinate the vector as well.

It might help consumer attitudes if both boys and girls were treated equally in this. Even though males don't get cancer from HPV, they do transmit it.

I completely agree that boys should be vaccinated as well. I don't understand why that is not a part of the recommendation, has it been shown the vaccine is not effective in men?

How about treatments to lower viral load in males and females? Is there any research on that?
