The key partnership is between the patient and the physician. Both parties need to be informed in order for the best quality of care. The patient should not be afraid to questions the physician and the physian should not be afraid to be questioned.

The questions are what is considered health literacy and how can we improve it?
In other words, before a patient can be in a partnership with his doctor, what does he need to know in order to become literate?

I think the physician can help guide patients' understanding by their explanations and answers to questions. With some knowledge, a patient has a foundation to learn more on their own.
