This thread discusses the Content article: Hospital Quality Rankings

I am curious, how similar are the rankings between various organizations?

What would be the best way to standardize criteria so regardless of what resource is used, the consumer can get accurate and reliable information?

Standardizing criteria is a good idea but I think a more relevant issue is what insurance companies have contracts with a particular hospital.

Patients want to have their own physician overseeing their care at the hospital but a growing trend is that private practice physicians don't want to go to the hospital so I think hospital ranking websites are a useful reference point for patients.

Even if private physicians are not going to the hospital, they have contracts with certain hospitals. So I am not convinced that these hospital ranking websites are useful.

But not all patients have a physician, so this website allows them to have some objective information.
