I think allowing greater access to medical records will be an asset for both patient and health care providers. The patient will have access to any medical information that may be critical in their care, which will allow the physicians to assess the best treatment option in the shortest amount of time.

The problem is that greater access to the information will mean greater accessibility of the data to third parties. The greater access could impact on an individual's privacy.

On secod thought, patient privacy will be impacted but what is more important, acesss to information that will allow for the best care of the patient or protecting the privacy of the patient?
