I think this study is a good example of how better knowledge of a mechanism does not necessarily lead to a better diagnostic tool.

I agree with you. Each new diagnostic tool is more expensive and the increased sophistication does not necessarily mean the results will be more accurate.

A major reason is that biological systems are much more complicated than we can imagine.

This study represents another example of why health care costs continue to increase unnecessarily.
