As a medical student, I recently learned that in the medical profession there are a significant number of physicians with alcohol use problems. How can we educate our patients about alcohol abuse if we are participating in it?
So for me the more global question is how to lower the rates of alcohol abuse in the population at large? What works?

I think the more relevant question is how to more effectively treat it? The treatments do not seem as effective as they should be. While it would be nice to prevent alcohol abuse, the reality is that alcohol is very accessible from a young age and it is a way that people deal with stress (physicians and non-physicians).
