This thread discusses the Content article: Physical disability often means denied health care

This should not be the case. If they had healthcare services prior to becomming disabled, the question is why did there healthcare stop. There disabilty could have been prevent with proper education and good follow up in some cases. Doctors in the private sector charge for everything, and there fore many patients can't afford the care anyway.

I think one of the problems is that the healthcare industry is not properly educated in how to accomodate disabilities. I think awareness needs to begin with education of the challenges of the disabled, beginning in medical school.

I agree that medical school curricula should incorporate the physically challenged and the environmental barriers that they face in accessing care.
I think that we will encounter this concern more and more frequently as a result of an increased volume of aging patients and trauma survivors.

You are right. As this population grows, market pressures will drive better treatment options.

What are some examples of successfully dealing with a physical disability? It may give us some ideas that we can apply to other situations.

One example I can think of is having hearing assist devices available in a wide range of settings. Any other ideas come to mind?
