The American lifestyle, unfortunately, is conducive to not only developing atherosclerosis but the subsequent complications that can develop from it. I believe making efforts to lower obesity would help to lower incidence rates of the initial disease but the complications as well.
As physicians, what are the best approaches to manage a patient with a obesity? What has worked in your practice? Of course, education is an obvious component but by itself, I don't see that it will help change lifelong habits.
