In the behavioral health class I am currently taking, the personality characteristics of the patient is a key indicator in whether they are more at risk at developing a mental illness. Since Military personnel have several characteristics that indicate they are at greater risk for developing mental illness (based on the traits discussed in my class) and are exposed to extreme circumstances, early mental health intervention would make sense. I am not sure what would be the best approach but it is evident in the literature that controlling mental illness is one of the most effective ways to reduce patient's physical problems and to reduce healthcare costs.

Are you suggesting that the military population - even without war - is predisposed to mental illness? That seems like a pretty far-fetched claim. Hospital Ratings Medical Resource Group, LLC
