Dietary factors appear to be associated with diabetes risk E-mail

CHICAGO—Drinking more sugar-sweetened beverages or eating fewer fruits and vegetables both may be associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, whereas eating a low-fat diet does not appear to be associated with any change in diabetes risk, according to three reports in the July 28 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

Thyrotropin levels associated with alzheimer’s disease risk in women E-mail

CHICAGO—Women with low or high levels of the hormone thyrotropin, which affects thyroid gland function and thyroid hormone levels, appear to have a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, according to a report in the July 28 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
