| An aminocoumarin antibiotic, produced by the actinomycete streptomyces nivens, with antibacterial property. Novobiocin, as well as other aminocoumarin antibiotics, inhibits bacterial dna synthesis by targeting at the bacteria DNA gyrase and the related enzyme DNA topoisomerase IV.
